What is Lumecca IPL?
Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) technology available to date and is used for skin rejuvenation and photofacials. It targets and reduces age spots; sun damage; pigmentation issues (vascular lesions, port-wine stains, spider veins, freckles) and pigmented lesions; and rosacea.
After treatment, skin will continue to look younger and more brilliant with most visible results after 1-2 weeks. Having multiple sessions will improve the final result.
In just 1-3 sessions Lumecca improves the appearance of:
- Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)
- Vascular lesions such as facial telangiectasias (spider veins) and poikiloderma
- Rosacea (redness)
- Freckles
- Sun damage
How does Lumecca IPL work?
Pigmented areas will be drawn to the surface as the calibrated light waves pulse and heat your skin. Every pulse will show up as a flash of light which is why you wear protective goggles during treatment. Over the next few days, these pigment flakes will become darker and eventually fall off.
The heat from the device also encourages your body to produce more collagen naturally which reduces pores and improves skin texture. The severity of your skin damage will determine how many treatment sessions you require, but two is typical.
How long does recovery take after Lumecca treatment?
After a Lumecca treatment, there won’t be any downtime; however, common side effects, such as skin that looks pink or red, similar to a sunburn, may occur during the first 48 hours. What was drawn to the surface as excess pigment will continue to darken and begin to flake off which is part of the restoration process.
Why do patients choose Lumecca IPL?
- Lumecca is FDA-cleared
- treatments can be done in as little as 15 minutes
- because Lumecca’s IPL technology doesn’t injure the surface of the skin, there’s no downtime
- visible results may be noticeable even after a single treatment
